ANIMAL lovers in East Renfrewshire are being encouraged to nominate their magnificent moggies for the National Cat Awards.
The contest, organised by the Cats Protection charity, aims to celebrate the joy that furry friends bring to people’s lives.
There are five categories to choose from, including Hero Cat, which will honour a fearless feline that has saved the day.
Other awards include Most Caring Cat, Furr-ever Friends and Outstanding Rescue Cat.
There is also the Better Together prize, which celebrates a special bond that has enriched the lives of both a feline and human.
A panel of celebrity cat lovers will select the winners, whose owners will be presented with their trophies at a ceremony in London on Thursday, August 8 – coinciding with International Cat Day.
A spokeswoman for Cats Protection said: “Cats are fantastic pets and bring a huge amount of fun, companionship and support to the people they live with.
“Every year, we hear stories of how inspirational cats can be – from surviving against the odds to helping their owners cope with loss or sadness.
"We’re hoping to hear lots more stories of how cats have made a positive difference to people’s lives.”
Nominations can be made online. The deadline is noon on Friday, March 8.
