FIVE people were injured in a collision near Earlston last night.

The A6105 - Gordon road - was closed for more than eight hours following the two-vehicle crash at around 10.30pm.

An 18-year-old man was badly hurt amd is receiving treatment at Borders General Hospital.

Four others sustained minor injuries.

The road re-opened this morning at 6.40am after both vehicles were recovered and an investigation had taken place.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said:  “Police in the Borders are investigating following a road traffic collision on the A6105 near to Gordon.

“The incident happened around 10.35pm on Wednesday, February 20, when a Suzuki Jimny and a Kia Sedona were involved in a collision.

“An 18-year-old male driver of the Suzuki Jimny sustained serious, but not life-threatening, injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Borders General Hospital. 

“The driver and three passengers within the Kia Sedona sustained minor injuries and were also taken to Borders General Hospital.

“Inquiries into the full circumstances are currently ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at Galashiels’ Road Policing Unit on 101, quoting incident number 4138 of February 20.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call Police Scotland on 101.
