ONE of Scotland’s best-loved performers turned over a new leaf this week as she paid a visit to Neilston Primary.
Elaine C Smith, star of hit shows such as Two Doors Down and Rab C Nesbitt, popped into the school on Monday afternoon to take part in a Reading Recovery session.
She spent time chatting with pupils from Neilston Primary and St Thomas’ Primary who are benefitting from a special initiative that provides additional support for those who find reading a challenge.
Also there to welcome the VIP guest as part of Read Aloud Week were Reading Recovery teachers Michael Connorwood and Stacey Walker.
Mr Connorwood said: “Each child read their favourite book from their Reading Recovery programme to Elaine and she gave a reading of The Glasgow Gruffalo.
"She also gave all of the children a signed copy of the book.
“Read Aloud Week is a celebration for the children we have been doing Reading Recovery with.”
