PLANNING permission to develop a multi-million-pound hotel in Glasgow City Centre has been given the go-ahead.

Northern Ireland based developer and contractor McAleer & Rushe will also be erecting one in Birmingham, representing an over investment of £85 million.

Combined, the two hotels will deliver a total of 630 bedrooms and will be operated by Irish hotel operator, Dalata, under its four-star Maldron brand.

The 300-bed, four-star Maldron Hotel in Glasgow will be a first for Dalata in Scotland.

The building will be located on Renfrew Street, at Tesco Bank and The Herald and Evening Times offices, and will employ around 100 staff.
