A Scottish-American who stalked her Barrhead toy boy, hounding him with hundreds of unwanted messages after their fling came to an end, dodged her sentencing hearing last week claiming she was ill.

Deborah Pringle, 48, bombarded Jason Gillespie, 23, with text messages, emails and phone calls after he broke off their sex-only relationship.

Pringle, who was born in Scotland but moved to America and holds dual citizenship, contacted him 200 times in three days and threatened to self-harm if he did not get back to her. When he refused to answer her calls, she began phoning him from a withheld number.

She also turned up at his parents’ home in the early hours of the morning hoping to speak to him, but was sent on her way by his dad.

Pringle previously admitted engaging in a course of conduct which caused Gillespie fear or alarm by repeatedly sending him text messages and emails, phoning him, and going to his parents’ home in Barrhead uninvited.

The charge stated the offence was aggravated by involving the abuse of her ex-partner, as per Section 1 of the Abusive Behaviour and Sexual Harm (Scotland) Act 2016.

Pringle told the judge that she was going back to America from the beginning of December until early January and would be unable to return to court during that time for sentencing.

Sheriff McCartney then told Pringle to be of good behaviour for three months and deferred sentence on her until last week.

But when the case called Pringle was not there, and defence solicitor Iain Bradley said she was unwell.

He also said a medical report which had been requested had not been prepared on time.

After hearing she had been of good behaviour, Sheriff McCartney deferred sentence again for her to stay out of trouble.
