A young woman has died after being hit by a car while crossing a busy road.
The 21-year-old was struck by a silver coloured car while crossing Ayr Road (A77) near Woodvale Avenue around 7.35am on Friday morning.
Emergency services attended the scene and the woman was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where she later died.
Her relatives have been informed.
The driver of the car was uninjured but has been left badly shaken by the incident.
Officers are appealing for information and checking for any CCTV footage which could assist their enquiries.
Sergeant Andrew Mair said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident. People may have been making their way to work or heading out for the papers and I would ask them to contact us if they have any information.”
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact officers at Road Policing Unit at Helen Street via 101, quoting incident number 0531 of Friday 18 January 2019."
