FANCY getting into walking in 2019?
East Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership runs walking groups throughout the week.
On Mondays at 10am, Broomburn Medical Centre in Newton Mearns runs a health walk for people aged 50+ from the corner of the centre. At the same time, First Steps Giffnock, at the village’s Lidl, runs a walk for beginners and a more advanced ramble. Strength and balance exercises, plus a walk around Neilston, take place at 10.30am on Mondays at The Bank.
On Tuesday, First Steps runs from Eastwood Park in Giffnock from 9.30am for those wanting to start walking, and Barrhead Foundry from 9.45am, for those wanting a longer stroll at a moderate pace.
St John’s Strollers are at Cowan Park in Barrhead from 10am on Tuesdays.
On Wednesdays, Neilston Walkers head off from The Bank at 10am, offering a longer ramble at a moderate pace through countryside, while the Dams to Darnley Health Walk takes place from 10am, with the group meeting at the World Buffet car park. Rouken Glen Walkers meet at 10am on Wednesdays at Pro Soccer for a one and a half hour walk through the park.
On Fridays at 10.30am, Stepping Out meets at the ARC in Barrhead, which is a low level walk.
