VANDALS have once again targeted Barrhead’s Cowan Park, setting a fire in the children’s play area.
The park, which received a £250,000 upgrade last year, has been subjected to numerous incidents of mindless vandalism in the months since.
The latest attack took place last week, when yobs set fire to items on one of the benches – damaging the surface – and scattered litter around.
A spokesperson for East Renfrewshire Council said: “It was extremely disappointing to see further damage caused to the facilities at Cowan Park.
“Vandalism to our public spaces is completely unacceptable. The cost of repair puts additional pressure on our annual budget and prevents residents from enjoying the space.
“Our community safety officers will continue to monitor the area and we will do all we can to support our partners in the emergency services.”
Anyone who has information about vandalism at Cowan Park is asked to call the police on 101.
