POLICE have issued a warning to Barrhead residents following the theft of property from a car.
An investigation is underway after the vehicle was targeted while it was parked at an address in the town’s Fern Drive.
It was some time overnight from December 19 into the following morning that a thief gained access to the unlocked car and stole property worth less than £100.
Sergeant Michael Morganthaler, who is based at Giffnock Police Station, said: “We would remind residents to check they have locked all doors and windows and that their vehicles are secure.
“There are criminals out there who will exploit these opportunities.”
Anyone who spots suspicious activity near parked cars is asked to alert the police by calling 101.
