Barrhead Travel is to get a new boss after company president Sharon Munro revealed she is quitting her role.

Ms Munro, who has worked in the business for 28 years, is stepping down just weeks after her father Bill – the company’s founder – also made his departure.

She said she is leaving the firm for “purely personal reasons.”

Ms Munro became president following the acquisition of the company by Travel Leaders Group – one of North America’s largest travel companies – in February.

Last month, her dad stepped down from a strategic advisory role as chairman of the Barrhead division within Travel Leaders.

Managing director Jacqueline Dobson will take over as company president.

Ms Munro said: “I would like to thank our staff for their hard work and dedication, our loyal and growing number of customers and our brilliant partners. They are all part of the successful Barrhead Travel story.

“I am handing over the reins to my extremely capable friend and colleague Jacqueline Dobson.

“Jacqueline is the natural successor and I know that the company, staff and customers will be in safe hands with the continuity, dedication and passion that she brings to the business.”
