A popular East Renfrewshire swimming pool will be closed for almost three weeks over the festive period.

From Monday, December 17 until Sunday, January 6, Eastwood Park Leisure will be undergoing essential maintenance works resulting in the closure of the pool however the centre and theatre will remain open during these upgrades.

The public are advised that Barrhead Foundry will still have swimming available at this time.

Councillor Colm Merrick, Convener for Community Services and Community Safety, said: “We realise that the closure of the pools may cause inconvenience for some residents, however, this is essential work and it simply must be done. At this time of the year there are no swimming lessons and the overall use of the pools is traditionally less. Therefore, we hope that by carrying out the work over these three weeks the impact on our customers can be minimised.”

Anthony McReavy, Chief Executive of East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure Trust, which operates the facility on behalf of the council, added: “The work being carried out is to significantly upgrade the existing filters which operate all the pools. The patience and understanding of our customers during this short period of closure is appreciated.”
