Christmas arrived at a Neilston church on Saturday as merry villagers joined together to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year.

Neilston Parish Church welcomed families and locals from the area for some festive fun at their Treats with Santa event, which was organised all in good spirits for a trio of causes.

Making a special appearance, Santa Claus brought a smile to several little faces as he took a break from his toy-making duties in the North Pole to meet lots of youngsters at the Main Street church.

The event, which was held in the church halls, saw a host of delicious treats on offer and an array of stalls alongside the chance to get involved in some fun and games with others from the village community.

And the funds raised from the ticketed event will go towards helping not one, but three charities.

Accord Hospice in Paisley, Parkinson’s UK and Clic Sargent will all benefit from the goodwill of those who attended Saturday’s festivities.

Parkinson’s UK aims to improve the quality of life for people affected by Parkinson’s Disease and find a cure for the long-term degenerative condition, while Accord Hospice provides palliative and end-of-life care to people living with or affected by a life-limiting illness.

Clic Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children, young people and their families.

It supports people from diagnosis onwards, as well as carrying out research into cancer.
