DETECTIVES are appealing for help after two crooks nabbed hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of alcohol from a Linwood haulage firm. 

The robbers targeted two trucks containing a six figure sum of alcohol at the yard in Burnbrae Road on Sunday at around 5.05pm. 

The Gazette understands it was the WH Malcolm yard that was targeted.

The men managed to gain access to the vehicles and left the premises. 

The alarm was raised around midnight and police were called.

From enquiries carried out so far it is understood that one of the trucks was driven behind a small black car to the nearby Riverpark Industrial Estate in Bridge Street.

Once there, the cab was disconnected from the trailer and fitted to another cab and driven away.

One of the trucks has since been recovered in the East Kilbride area.

Detective Sergeant Michael Lochrie from Paisley CID said: “Extensive enquiries are underway and we are appealing for anyone with information regarding this incident to please get in touch.

“In particular we would ask anyone who was in the vicinity of Riverpark Industrial Estate around 5pm yesterday evening and may have noticed any suspicious activity to contact police.

“We would also urge motorists with dashcams who were in the area to check their footage in case they have captured anything which could be of significance to our enquiries.
