GUSTS of up to 60mph are predicted across Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire tomorrow with a severe weather warning in place.

The Met Office has issued a Yellow alert for the area and most of Scotland between 5am and 11.59pm.

Experts say the wind is likely to cause delays to transport and are urging commuters to take care.

The warnings cover most of Scotland, with gales of up to 80mph expected in the northwest.

The Met Office statement reads: “A deep depression will move eastwards across northern Scotland on Friday bringing widespread gales. Inland gusts of 50-60 mph are likely quite widely, with gusts of 70-80 mph in exposed locations across northwest Scotland.

“Heavy rainfall may be an additional hazard across parts of northern and western Scotland.”
