Preparations for a Christmas event taking place in Barrhead this weekend have been adversely affected by the stormy weather battering the country.

Due to take place on Saturday, All About Barrhead's Winter Wonderland event was due to see the town welcome the festive season while watching the Christmas tree light up in spectacular fashion.

Unfortunately, organisers have revealed that due to water damage and high winds this will be unable to take place.

In a statement, a spokesperson said: " Due to the water damage, persistent bad weather and high winds we will not be able to switch on the Christmas tree lights at Barrhead's Winter Wonderland tomorrow."

However, residents have been told not to panic as lights will still stretch across Main Street and Cross Arthurlie Street with a fireworks display also still set to close the event.

As soon as organisers have a break in the weather, allowing them to safely install the tree lights, they will be up and switched on.
