A LEADING railway campaigner has been accused of being involved in a road rage incident.

Marion Short faces a careless driving charge during which she is alleged to have gesticulated aggressively towards another motorist.

It is claimed she overtook the vehicle and then pulled in excessively quickly without allowing adequate space between the vehicles and causing them to collide and get damaged.

The 67-year-old - who is vice chairman of the Campaign for Borders Rail - denies the offence which is said to have happened in Dunion Road, Jedburgh,on December 7 last year.

She also pleaded not guilty at Jedburgh JP Court to failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an accident to police within 24 hours.

Short of Heronhill Bank, Hawick, Roxburghshire, will stand trial on December 12.
