SUPPORT poured in from residents as parishioners at a Barrhead church staged their latest fundraising event.

Nearly £800 was generated at a coffee morning staged by guild members at St Andrew’s Parish Church.

This will go towards the cost of creating a bigger church hall.

The current facility is already in high demand, as it is used by all of the church’s youth organisations, including the Boys’ Brigade and Scouts, as well as a number of external groups.

Members of the local community have rallied round to support a number of fundraising activities throughout the year.

And, on Saturday, the hall was filled with fellowship as cups of tea and coffee, as well as a delicious selection of home-baked treats, were on offer, with all of the proceeds going to the new hall.

An impressive total of £790 was raised.

Cath McGrath, guild convener, said: “It always amazes me what kinds of hidden gems people can find at these sorts of things.

“As well as the usual teas and coffees, we had stalls with unwanted items and home-made jams.

“All in all, it was really a great social day, with a wonderful atmosphere.”

The guild will be holding another fundraising coffee morning at the church next month.

It takes place on Saturday, November 10, from 10am until noon, and everyone who goes along will be made welcome.
