Barrhead residents are being urged to ‘play Santa’ by collecting gifts for needy children ahead of the festive season.
Operation Christmas Child is being supported by the congregation at Bourock Parish Church, with an appeal issued for donations.
These will then be distributed in boxes to children who would otherwise have little to look forward to at the most wonderful time of the year.
A spokesperson said: “Keep us in mind when you are shopping, as we will require soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes and small toys in the lead up to collection in November.”
“Each box costs £3 for postage and, last year, we were able to send 250 boxes.”
For more information, pop into the church, in the town’s Main Street.
