A SERIES of outreach events are set to take place across East Renfrewshire throughout October, November and December to provide support and assistance to Universal Credit claimants.

East Renfrewshire Council is working with the Barrhead Citizens Advice Bureau and East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure Trust on the drop-in events, which are aimed at residents who have made or will be making the switch to Universal Credit.

The new benefits system was introduced in East Renfrewshire on September 26.

Staff from each of the partners will be on hand to offer advice and assistance with all aspects of Universal Credit, including explaining the criteria, completing the claim and getting online, as well as offering advice about budgeting and how to save money.

This week has already seen an event held at The Foundry, with others set for Barrhead Citizens Advice Bureau, Neilston Library, Clarkston Library, Newton Mearns Library, Thornliebank Library and the East Renfrewshire Council offices in Barrhead.
