HAPPY snappers enjoyed some healthy competition as Levern Camera Club staged its first contest of the year.

Members presented their best photographs taken around the world during the summer in the hope they would be hailed as the cream of the crop.

From towns in East Renfrewshire to the glorious medieval landscape of Europe, snappers used their skills to capture a host of memorable images.

However, there could only be one winner – and it was Cliff Lockyer who took first place for his image titled ‘Summer Sunset. Kirkwall Harbour.’

Runner-up was Jim Pyke, whose ‘Summer Night in Prague’ showcased the city’s imposing castle and world-famous Charles Bridge.

In third place was John Todd, whose use of light and symmetry to produce an image titled ‘Arches’ was pleasing on the eye.

More than 30 entries were submitted for the competition, with some of the impressive snaps featured here.

Levern Camera Club meets every Wednesday, starting at 7.30pm, at Fereneze Golf Club, in Barrhead.

Jim Clark, secretary of the club, said: “Anyone who is interested in digital photography is more than welcome to come along and join us.

“We have a full syllabus of events, which we hope our members will continue to take part in.”

New members will be made very welcome at the club, regardless of their age or experience in the art of photography.
