A TEENAGE writer from East Renfrewshire is making headlines after performing at the Scottish Storytelling Centre.

Holly Edgar was part of the line-up of aspiring authors from the What’s Your Story? programme chosen to demonstrate their latest work at the event in Edinburgh.

The programme is run by the Scottish Book Trust, which provided training to Holly and six other teenagers on how to present their work, including storytelling and poetry.

Holly, from Giffnock, said: “What’s Your Story? has been such an amazing opportunity, allowing me to meet other young creators and learn so many new skills.

“It’s helped me become more confident and proficient as a writer and I would recommend it to everyone who likes to create.

“Everyone has a story to tell and, without What’s Your Story?, so many of them would remain unheard.”

Applications are now open for next year’s What’s Your Story? programme, with those aged between 14 and 17 invited to take part.

Any young writers or illustrators who are interested in applying should visit the website at www.thestoryis.co.uk for more details.

The closing date for applications is Monday, November 12.
