AN East Renfrewshire sports centre was the scene of a Hallowe’en ‘mess-acre’ at the weekend as youngsters let their inner demons out to play.

Maccabi Youth and Sports Centre, in Giffnock, was a splatter spectacular on Saturday as families swarmed for a morning of sloppy, slimy, mushy fun.

Mess Around Glasgow South sent out invitations to all little witches, monsters, mummies and devils in the area, promising all manner of gruesome delights at its spook-tacular party.

The sold-out event was the first of the group’s Hallowe’en-themed activities.

Taking inspiration from the grisly realm of ghosts, goblins and ghouls, the party offered its monstrous guests the chance to get creative and go wild with a variety of games and materials, as well as the Big Kids Create and Make Corner, with arts and crafts for older siblings.

Dressed in their frightful best, the little terrors caused all manor of havoc as they mixed, poured, dug and explored, using everything from spooky sand to petrifying paint and ghostly foam to gory goo.

With no rules set and lots of activities to explore, everyone was left to get stuck in and have the most fun they could by making the biggest mess possible, resulting in colourful chaos.

And the children weren’t the only ones cackling with delight. Their parents were overjoyed too as, for once, they didn’t have to do any of the cleaning up.
