THE site manager of an East Renfrewshire housing development has been recognised for his work at the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards 2018.

Garry Henderson, from Mactaggart & Mickel Homes Ltd, was crowned the multi-storey category winner for the Milverton Grange apartments development in Giffnock.

The award recognises site managers working on projects of five storeys or more for multiple-occupancy.

Starting his career as an electrician before moving into site management, this was Garry’s first regional award, which he adds to the five quality awards he has won previously.

He was one of three site managers crowned winners in the ceremony at the Hilton Glasgow, while a further nine from across Scotland were awarded with a seal of excellence.

Now in their 38th year, the awards, organised by warranty and insurance provider NHBC, are among the most highly regarded in the house-building industry.

They reward the dedication of site managers to achieving the highest standards in housebuilding, as well as their commitment to building homes of outstanding quality.

Commenting on all the winners, NHBC director (Scotland) Malcolm MacLeod said: “To reach this level of the competition means without question you are at the very top of the housebuilding industry.

“The winning site managers are all building homes to an exceptional standard and are worthy winners.

“At NHBC, we believe that recognising the outstanding workmanship of the best UK site managers plays an important role in raising the quality of homes for the benefit of the people who will live in them.”

Scotland’s winners will now go on to compete for the ultimate title in housebuilding – Supreme Award Winner – to be unveiled at a gala ceremony in January.
