Former Crystal Palace footballer Timothy Fosu-Mensah has led tributes which have been paid to a 20-year-old man who was stabbed to death at a party.

The victim, who has been identified online by his DJ name Nana Banger, died after he was attacked at an 18th birthday party in northeast London.

Police were called at around 12.50am on September 22 to a fight at a flat in Wilderton Road, Stamford Hill, and found three men with serious injuries.

While Mr Banger was taken to hospital, he was pronounced dead at around 4.30am.

A Met Police spokesman said his next of kin have been informed and formal identification will take place alongside a post-mortem examination.

In a Twitter post earlier today (September 23), Mr Fosu-Mensah said: “Rip my bro Nana, you are at a better place now.”

A 17-year-old male, who was also found with stab wounds, is in a non life-threatening condition after he was taken to hospital.

That was alongside a third victim, a 24-year-old man, who suffered a head injury. He also has non life-threatening injuries.

Detective Chief Inspector Andrew Packer, from the Met’s homicide and major crime command, said: “Another family has been left devastated by the senseless loss of a young life to knife crime, and we’re doing all we can to bring those responsible to justice.

“What we know so far is that all three of these victims appear to have been attending a large house party at the address on Wilderton Road.

“I want to hear from anyone who was at that party, even if they didn’t witness the assaults, they may have some information that could help us piece together the course of events that led to this tragedy.

“We will continue to work tirelessly on this case, but as ever we need witnesses to come forward and tell us what they know.”

Mr Fosu-Mensah, who is currently on loan to Fulham from his parent club Manchester United, featured for Crystal Palace last season on loan.

The 20-year-old played a part in the Eagles’ Premier League campaign which saw them finish 11th in the league as Roy Hodgson took over from Frank de Boer.
