LOCAL politicians Jackson Carlaw MSP and Paul Masterton MP joined constituents at The Greenhouse Cafe in Eastwood Health Centre to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of Scotland’s National Health Service this week.
The celebratory afternoon tea was organised by East Renfrewshire Council and was attended by many residents and Provost Jim Fletcher.
Mr Carlaw said: “It was a pleasure to celebrate 70 years of our Scottish NHS with so many constituents who have benefited from its principle of care free at the point of need.
“70 years on and the service has changed with challenges now fundamentally different from 1948.
“Politicians need to not just react to these changes but look fundamentally into the future to ensure the NHS’s continued success for all who rely on its services.”
Mr Masterton added: “Our NHS and its staff play a huge part in all our lives and this celebratory event recognised all that is good about the NHS.
“Chatting with constituents it was clear how valued the local service is in Eastwood Health Centre.
“It was especially nice to see Mrs Little cutting the cake as someone who bridges a society before and after the establishment of our health service.”
