A RANGERS fan launched a drum stick at a crowd of Celtic supporters when his team lost in an Old Firm derby.

Kai Creelman, 20, was captured on a police body camera taking the stick from a fellow fan – who was standing with a drum – and hurling it towards his rivals.

The drum stick hit several Celtic supporters, including one woman on the head.

The incident happened at Ibrox Stadium on March 11, 2018 – when Rangers lost to Celtic 2-3.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court this week, Creelman pleaded guilty to recklessly throwing a drum beater or similar implement towards supporters of the opposing team, which struck a number of people.

The accused's lawyer highlighted the positive Criminal Justice Social Work report and the fact he had no previous convictions. However, Sheriff Tony Kelly noted that within the report, Creelman initially lacked insight into the seriousness of his crime.

His lawyer stated that by the end he acknowledged the potential danger, adding: "He knows he's let himself down and his family.

"It was a stupid act at the end of the game."

Creelman, of Greenwood Crescent in Coatbridge, was sentenced to a Community Payback Order with 200 hours of unpaid work to be completed within nine months.
