A GENEROUS youngster donated his entire Lego collection to a Renfrewshire hospice which looked after his relatives so kids would have something to play with when visiting loved ones.
James Blair, from Johnstone, gave seven years’ worth of coloured bricks, planes, trucks, cars and much more to St Vincent’s Hospice in Howwood after receiving them for birthdays and Christmases.
The 10-year-old, who attends St Margaret’s Primary School in Johnstone, admitted he had no use for the Lego any more, but couldn’t bear to see it go to waste.

“I don’t play with Lego much any more, so decided to clear it out,” said James.
“I didn’t want to just throw it away. A lot of it is expensive and and took a lot of work to build, and I thought I could do something nice with it.
“My gran and cousin were looked after by St Vincent’s, so I decided to give them my Lego, so that other boys and girls who come and visit their family will have something to play with.”
St Vincent’s Hospice is a specialist provider of palliative and hospice care for people and families throughout Renfrewshire who are affected by life-limiting conditions.

They also provide bereavement support and counselling for children and young people, from two to 18 years old, who have suffered the loss of a loved one.
Laura McDade, fundraiser for St Vincent’s Hospice, which works closely with primary schools throughout Renfrewshire, said: “This is an amazing gesture from James, and we can’t thank him enough for this generosity.
“At St Vincent’s, not only do we work with children and young people going through difficult times every single day, but we have countless numbers come through our doors every week to visit relatives and loved ones, and we are positive they will get hours of fun out of the Lego.
“Donations like this just prove everyone has something they can offer that can make a huge difference to St Vincent’s patients and families.
