SUMMER camps which kept kids across East Renfrewshire active over the school holidays have been declared a success.

Children flocked to various activities organised by East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure throughout July and August.

Multi-sports camps, theatre workshops and gymnastics sessions were all part of the fun as youngsters were able to banish boredom and get some exercise.

There was even a Superhero Training Academy, which gave kids the chance to dress up and make friends.

Other activities saw children get crafty with cavemen as part of a Time Traveller Camp and feel ‘fin-tastic’ by joining in the fun at a Create and Splash programme, where they were taught how to swim like a mermaid.

As well as the paid-for camps, there were also free activities at The Foundry, in Barrhead, for kids and parents to enjoy.

Organisers have said sessions at The Foundry and at Barrhead High School proved to be very popular.

There were also various activities taking place at libraries in Neilston, Newton Mearns, Clarkston and Giffnock, with children from three years to primary school age being catered for.

Although kids head back to school today, work is already underway to organise more activities during the October holidays.
