A LONG-SERVING member of a housing association board has decided to step down to spend more time with her family.

Laura Hendry, who is the only tenant member on the governing board of Barrhead Housing Association (BHA), has called it a day after almost 22 years on the committee.

She has overseen many changes in the organisation, both as a member and as a tenant, but feels it is time for some fresh blood at BHA.

“I’ve enjoyed my many years with the board but it’s time I spent more time with my family,” said Laura.

Although she is stepping down, Laura has committed to supporting BHA’s tenant scrutiny panel.

Meanwhile, the organisation wants to hear from any tenants who would like to take her place.

Claire Boyd, BHA chairperson, said: “We’d like to thank Laura for her long and dedicated service.

“It’s important that we continue to have tenants’ voices on our board and recognise that Laura has been a very supportive member of the team for all these years. We wish her well.”

The next annual general meeting of BHA is set to take place at the Barrhead Foundry on Tuesday, August 28, starting at 7pm. Anyone who would like to attend should call the housing association’s office on 0141 881 0638.
