Kids across East Renfrewshire have been given a sporting chance this summer as they enjoy a range of fun activities.

East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure (ERCL) has been staging a series of multi-activity camps, which have proved to be a smash hit.

Barrhead High School is just one of the venues to host sessions that have helped children to banish boredom during the summer break.

Youngsters have been able to make friends at a Superhero Training Academy, while others have been getting crafty with cavemen as part of a Time Traveller Camp.

There has even been a ‘fin-tastic’ Create and Splash programme which has taught kids how to swim like a mermaid.

More traditional activities have also proved popular, with football camps also available throughout the summer.

ERCL chief executive Anthony McReavy said the activity camps have caught the children’s imagination.

He added: “Our summer holiday programme has been a great success so far.

“Kids have been keeping active, learning new skills and letting their imaginations run wild with our fun and engaging activities, from our sports classes to our creative activities.”
