ROTARIANS in Barrhead have been doing their bit to help worthy causes.
A number of volunteers headed to intu Braehead, in Renfrew, at the weekend to pack food parcels for starving children in Africa.
Members of Barrhead Rotary worked alongside helpers from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as well as other groups, on a huge operation that will see 75,000 meals being sent to the Kibera area of Nairobi, in Kenya.
Organised by the Rise Against Hunger charity, it was a case of ‘many hands make light work’ as rice, soya and dehydrated vegetable mix, along with vitamins and minerals, were packed into portion-size plastic bags.
Barrhead Rotary has also presented Alzheimer’s Scotland with a cheque for £330, which was raised at a charity concert at the David Lloyd Club, in Renfrew, back in May.
Morag Dorrian, a community fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Scotland, was on hand to collect the cheque from Barrhead Rotary president Angela Samson (bottom right).
