A THUG has been spared jail for a drunken rampage at a golf club which saw him bombard his ex-partner with foul-mouthed insults and attack a teenage boy.

Kevin Logan, of Langton Crescent, Barrhead, lost the plot at Elderslie Golf Club in June last year.

He had agreed to meet old flame Nicola Milne but arrived late.

Logan then gave a can of cider to a 16-year-old boy who was with her and went on to punch him on the face.

The teenager ran inside the golf club to escape further violence but Logan followed him and threatened to break both his legs.

Logan stood in the clubhouse and stared at the youngster for a while before heading outside, where he saw his ex-girlfriend again and began hurling abuse at her.

He called her “a skank” and told her he was “going to batter her."

Logan then fled the scene but called Miss Milne on her mobile a short time later and bombarded her with more abuse.

The details emerged yesterday when Logan appeared in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court to be sentenced over his drunken antics.

He had earlier pleaded guilty to charges of assaulting the teenager and behaving in a threatening or abusive way and sentence had been deferred to allow him to comply with a Community Payback Order imposed for another case and to keep out of trouble.

Defence solicitor Jonathan Manson said Logan had been playing golf on the day in question and lashed out at the teenager after believing he had barged into him deliberately.

Sheriff Seith Ireland placed him on a Community Payback Order, giving him 12 months to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work, as a direct alternative to a prison sentence.
