A NEILSTON teenager was set to begin training for Formula One races this week in 2013...even though he wasn’t yet old enough to drive on public roads.

David Brown, 14, was just about to enter his fourth year at Eastwood High but was also spending time working with top drivers such as David Coulthard and David Leslie at Knockhill Racing Circuit.

He had just become Scottish Area Karting champion and was set to compete in the last round of the prestigious National Championship.

David had also been asked to join one of Britain’s largest racing teams.

At the time, his proud dad Kenneth told the Barrhead News: “Already it has been a hard year moving around the country to compete at all these different championships but the experience gained, especially at Super One level, should stand him in good stead for next year.”
