Families joined their elderly relatives on Friday as a Barrhead nursing home hosted a Veteran’s Day celebration.
The Firs care home on the town’s Lowndes Street was draped in bunting, with union flags flying across its grounds.
People up and down the UK have been taking part in celebrations surrounding the official Armed Forces Day on Saturday, June 30.
Armed Forces Day is a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, from currently serving troops to service families, veterans and cadets.
The Firs was a fitting host venue for the event, with six former service personnel currently living at the accommodation, some as old as 99.
Manager Laura Scroggie said: “The day has been fantastic. You just can’t plan for this kind of weather and everyone has loved it.
“We have only recently taken over here but the day seems to have gone down well. I don’t think anything like this has been held before.”
Goodwill was also spread from residents at The Firs to a veterans charity who had come along on the day.
John Summer, himself a veteran, donated £50 to Soldiers off the Street Scotland.
The charity help veterans who have been sleeping rough, giving somewhere to sleep to those who find themselves homeless through no fault of their own.
