Two Barrhead institutions gave each other a helping hand last week as the town’s Men’s Shed received a donation.

Members of Barrhead Rotary Club visited the shed to hand over a cheque for £350.

The money had been raised by members of the Barrhead Rotary at a recent fundraising concert at Carlibar Primary School.

The show welcomed more than 150 guests, with the profits split between the shed and Levern Valley Community Brass, with the latter joining the East Renfrewshire Schools Jazz Band on stage.

A spokesman for Barrhead Rotary Club said: “This donation will help them continue the sterling work they are doing in promoting health and wellbeing by giving those more mature members of the community an opportunity to participate in woodwork, crafts and music.”

Barrhead Men’s Shed is part of a worldwide movement that offers a place where both men and women can feel at home and pursue practical interests with freedom and independence.

The Robertson Street group operate four days a week and are a vital outlet for people to socialise and learn new skills.
