A TOTAL of 125,000 deliveries, 40 surgeries, 80 debates and 62 written questions to parliament: it’s just all in a year’s work for East Renfrewshire’s MP.
Local work and visibility have been Paul Masterton’s top priorities since a 13 per cent swing last May propelled him into Westminster.
According to the Ralston-based politician, he’s even taking inspiration from predecessors from across the political spectrum.
He said: “First and foremost you are there to be a constituency MP. Jim Murphy was a great MP and is someone I’ve spoken to on a few occasions since the election. He built such a good reputation because he did a good job locally.
“I think Kirsten (Oswald) was another example of someone who understood that the area is more important than Westminster.
“I think this area has always had a good track record of committed MPs and I want to continue in that vein.”
