Barrhead businesses have won several top awards at this year’s East Renfrewshire Business Awards.

Winners were announced at the annual ceremony which took place last Thursday at the Busby Hotel, Clarkston.

The Uplawmoor Hotel were one of the lucky winners, coming out on top in the Excellence in Customer Service category.

There were also wins for flooring specialists First Floors Ltd in the Family Business Award and fitness instructors T30 Fitness Training in the Most Promising New Business Award.

Barrhead contractors George Leslie Ltd took home double gongs in the Community Impact and Developing East Renfrewshire’s Young Workforce categories.

Stuart Peacock, co-owner of The Uplawmoor Hotel, said that the award was a huge boost to the business.

He said: “It was a delight and a pleasure to win, but we hadn’t expected it at all. We had been a finalist in the past and it was brilliant to finally get a win.

“In the past we have won a number of awards in the hospitality industry but to be recognised in a wider sense is great.

“This is a good chance to get recognised by other business people in East Renfrewshire. This has been a real boost to the team, especially the staff, who see their hard work paying off.

“Locally it has raised our profile and the reaction has been great.”

Over 150 guests attended the glitzy sold out night, hosted by TV personality Jennifer Reoch and sponsored by Taylor Wimpey West Scotland.

There was an added bonus as the event raised over £1,000 for local social care charity Include Me 2 Club.

John F. Hamilton, president of East Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce, which organises the awards, said: “East Renfrewshire businesses are vital to the economy; generating jobs, increasing spending and enabling growth.

“It’s inspiring to listen to and recognise these successful companies’ stories and achievements. Congratulations to all the winners and finalists and thank you once again to all our sponsors.”
