NOMINATIONS are being sought for an awards scheme which aims to reward health heroes.

The annual Chairman’s Awards, organised by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, shine a spotlight on health staff who go that extra mile to help others.

This year’s awards coincide with celebrations to mark the NHS’s 70th anniversary.

There are four award categories open to the public – the Nursing Award, the Volunteer/Patient Ambassador Award, the Patient Centred Care Award and the International Award.

John Brown, chairman of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, said: “Each day when I visit services across the organisation I am hugely impressed by the people I meet and their dedication to their patients and the NHS.

“Our awards are a fantastic opportunity to shine a light on these people who go above and beyond the call of duty to provide exceptional care and support.

“Last year the entries were of an exceptionally high standard, so much so we awarded the highest number of awards since the Chairman’s Awards were introduced.”

Nominations for local health heroes should be made online by visiting www.nhsggc.org.uk/chairmansawards.

The closing date for entries is Tuesday, July 31.
