IMPROVEMENT work at two East Renfrewshire play parks has been completed.
Cowan Park, Barrhead, and Kingston Playing Fields, Neilston, have been upgraded following investment of £350,000 by East Renfrewshire Council.
At Cowan Park, a new play area has been installed adjacent to the swings that were already in place.
It is now open and provides local children with a wide range of play equipment, including six-metre-high slides, a double zip wire, accessible roundabout and sensory area.
The work at Cowan Park has also included installing a new fence around the war memorial and adding picnic benches to the area.
At Kingston Playing Fields,a large climbing frame with slide has been installed, as well as new swings, an accessible roundabout and some toddlers’ play equipment.
A new fence has also been put in place to replace the existing structure.
Councillor Alan Lafferty, East Renfrewshire’s environment convener, said:
“I am delighted to see these works completed at both Cowan Park and Kingston Playing Fields.
“As well as upgrading the existing play park at Kingston for the Neilston community, the work at Cowan Park has created a fantastic play area that will benefit local people for years to come.
“We have already seen the impact the improved play area at Rouken Glen has had and I’m sure that, by putting similar equipment into these parks, it will provide a boost for these fantastic green spaces too.”
