A BARRHEAD High pupil reached the grand final of a poster competition aimed at highlighting Scotland’s poor record of organ donation in 2003.
First year student Leanne Renfrew, 12, was one of only 14 finalists picked from 174 schools who had been asked to enter the West of Scotland Schools’ Donor Card Poster competition.
Rangers legend Mark Hateley presented the winners with their prizes during a ceremony in Princes Square, Glasgow.
All 14 finalists were presented with certificates and a goody bag.
Aimed at increasing the west of Scotland’s low organ registration rate of 11 per cent, the competition resulted in two new posters being printed to promote donor cards during National Transplant Week.
A total of 6,000 posters were printed and distributed to health centres, GP surgeries and libraries across the west of Scotland.
