A GREEN MSP has congratulated community campaigners after East Renfrewshire Council voted to reject a proposed housing development in Barrhead.
Ross Greer, who objected to the application himself, praised protesters whose hard work in collecting signatures and co-ordinating opposition meant that the plans were knocked back.
He said: “I’m delighted that the council saw sense. Well done to those who worked hard to fight the proposal.
“This is a great example of why communities need more rights to protect valuable greenbelt.”
