Families from across East Renfrewshire enjoyed all the fun of the fair as a Barrhead supermarket hosted a carnival to coin in cash for charity.

The event was part of a community initiative organised by Tesco and ran for five days.

Proceeds will be donated to the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

Despite some mixed weather between Thursday and Monday, revellers seemed to thoroughly enjoy the rides, as well as the trampolines and inflatables on offer.

Those who went along also had the option to tuck into treats from the carnival’s food court or enjoy the many arcade games.

A spokesperson for the Barrhead Tesco in the Community programme said the carnival proved to be a big hit, even when the weather took a turn for the worse.

“Not even the rain put people off,” added the spokesperson. “It was really busy.”

Held in the store’s car park, the carnival returned after raising a total of £2,000 for charity last year.

However, bosses said they could not guarantee that the event would run again unless turnout remained high.

This year’s impressive numbers will likely have improved the chances of seeing the carnival return again in 2019.
