A BARRHEAD restaurant has announced its immediate closure after decades of service in the town.
SJ @ Snooks on Kelburn Street had been run by Steven John Hobbs since 2013 but staff posted on social media last night to reveal they would be closing their doors.
Residents have been left shocked at the demise of the eatery, which has been a part of the community for more than 25 years.
Posting on Facebook, staff said: "With effect from May 8 2018 S.J @ Snooks Steakhouse has ceased trading.
"This is not a decision we have taken lightly. However, after just ten short years of trading within the Barrhead communitym difficult trading conditions and increasing costs have made continuing to operate no longer economically viable.
"Thank you to our loyal customers over the years.
The announcement has left some customers worried as many gift vouchers are still to be redeemed.
The staff added: "If you have outstanding meal deal vouchers or gift vouchers please contact your credit card company for a refund in the first instance."
If anyone has any memories of the restaurant or if you are affected by the closure then email niall.christie@newsquest.co.uk or call 0141 435 8825.
