SHROVE Tuesday may be well in the distance now but it was pancake day for one Barrhead church at the weekend.

A great mix of people helped to make the fundraising event at Barrhead St Andrew’s Parish Church a roaring success.

Volunteers laid on stacks of sweet treats on Saturday at the Ralston Road building to raise funds for Spree.

Spree is a great weekend for youth and children’s groups full of wild activities, challenging speakers and glorious food, and what better way to raise funds for this cause than with piles of pancakes.

As well as coining in donations from hungry guests who couldn’t resist the main offering, cash was raised through a bottle stall run by volunteers and stocked by generous members of the public.

The annual event also showcased the best of Barrhead’s baking talents as donations of cakes and other treats were on offer for those who just couldn’t get enough.

The church took to social media to thank those who attended and gave donations.

This year’s Spree Scotland event takes place from Friday, June 15, to Sunday, June 17.
