A COURAGEOUS Barrhead cop had his bravery recognised by East Renfrewshire Provost Alex Mackie back in 2008.
Constable Colin Thomas rescued a 31- year-old woman from drowning in the town’s Levern Water in February that year.
Colin, a 47-year-old Paisley dad-of-two and a police officer for 21 years, was presented with a whisky decanter and glasses by Provost Mackie to mark his act of bravery.
Provost Mackie said at the time: “Colin showed great bravery by diving fully clothed into the Levern Water, which was freezing, to rescue the 31-year-old woman.
“The council wanted to recognise his actions and I was delighted to present him with a gift as a token of our appreciation. Colin is a true hero and I congratulate him on all that he did.”
