Neilston’s Co-operative store has shown its support for a good cause that helps Scottish families dealing with the death of children.

Bumblebee Babies was in the village last week to collect funds to help provide closure to parents with lost children and babies born too soon by covering funeral costs and providing cold cots.

Thanks to the generosity of Neilston residents volunteers managed to raise around £80 on the day, and they have also visited supermarkets and other stores in Barrhead and other parts of East Renfrewshire.

This money raised will now go towards providing a casket to a local family in need, free of charge.

Brenda Murray, who runs the charity, said: “We would love to extend our thanks to the wonderful people of Neilston.

“It was fantastic to speak to people who were supportive and had maybe even gone through similar things themselves.

“Hopefully, as well as raising money, we helped some people by talking to them and we would encourage anyone who needs some help to come forward and speak to us.”
