Audiences at Giffnock’s Eastwood Park Theatre are being given the chance to become part of the performance in an interactive show.

The theatre is staging two productions that do away with the traditional in favour of something more unconventional, allowing those in the crowd to mingle with the actors and become characters in the play.

The Wedding Reception revolves around newlyweds Will and Kate, whose hopes for a low key celebration of their marriage are dashed when Kate’s mum throws a surprise party to which all audience members are invited. It is a two-hour theatrical dining experience.

The second production, Turntable, presents the opportunity to share in a communal listening experience that celebrates each participant’s relationship with the songs in their lives.

It was originally commissioned by the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival in 2015 and is the idea of musician and composer Michael John (MJ) McCarthy.

Tickets for The Wedding Reception, which takes place on Saturday, May 12, are £45, including a three-course meal.

Turntable goes ahead on Saturday, May 19, with admission costing £10.
