ELDERSLIE’S first ever community clean-up proved to be a big success, despite the miserable weather.

Members of Elderslie Community Council gathered volunteers to stage a Team Up to Clean Up initiative.

They concentrated on Stoddard Square, the car park next to the village’s Scout hall and part of Main Road.

Following the success of the event, the group will be staging further clean-up operations on the second Saturday of each month.

Councillor Jacqueline Cameron said: “Despite the awful weather, around 12 volunteers came along for the first clean-up.

“Sheila, from the Elderslie Scouts, was there with some of the group and there was good camaraderie throughout the morning.

“Everyone rolled up their sleeves to get the job done and it proved to be very therapeutic.”

Elderslie Community Council is calling on more volunteers to take part in the next clean-up, which is scheduled for 11am on Saturday, April 14.

Cllr Cameron added: “If there is an area in the village you would like cleaned up, then please let us know.

“Hopefully, we’ll have more volunteers next time.

“Thanks go to Sheila for letting us use the Scout hall and everyone else for their support.”
