Talented Barrhead children got the chance to take centre stage in 2003.

Kirsty MacLaren (above) was one of only five schoolkids to perform alongside actors from the Royal National Theatre in their production of An Inspector Calls.

The show, which finished its four-day run in March of that year, was playing to packed houses at the King’s Theatre, in Glasgow.

And 11-year-old Kirsty was thrilled to be involved.

The Cross Arthurlie Primary pupil had previously appeared in Oliver with the Apollo Players, as well as various school shows.

She was also looking forward to performing in Hello Dolly, again with the Apollo Players, later that year.

At the time, Kirsty said she wanted to be a doctor when she finished school. However, now 26, Kirsty is an actress who has appeared in many successful productions.
