The smell of success wafted down Barrhead’s Main Street on Saturday as The Foundry’s first indoor market proved popular.

More than 30 traders and small businesses were represented in the venue’s conference hall as scores of visitors turned up to enjoy the grand opening.

A spokesman for The Foundry said: “It went very well, probably what we expected from the first event.

“Feedback from the people who came along, as well as from traders, has been very positive.

“How it does going forward obviously depends on how well the traders and businesses can sell, what they are selling and whether they want to come back but we already have a few of the sellers looking to come back in April.”

After being moved to try to attract more business than the previously-run Sunday market in Barrhead, organisers have now made this a monthly event.

Due to be held on the second Saturday of each month, spring will be the theme of the April 14 market.
